Spirit in Motion, Ass on Couch

Anyway...I started sorting through my packed items, unloading baskets and bins, organizing some of my doodads and whatnots. I haven't even got everything moved out of the house yet, but what I do have moved is stacked all over hell's half acre. I tried to reduce before I packed, but I finally gave up and just threw it all in the car.

This has been an emotional, mixed up, overwhelming, sad, giddy, silly, busy Fall and Winter. Hopefully things have settled down a bit and I can shake this non-mono, non-strep, whateverthehellitis that's making mytonsils into giant strawberries. Thanks to some fine, fine modern chemical intervention, the tonsils are shrinking a little. I can swallow now. (Don't get all excited, fellahs. That's not what I meant, you pervs.)

I am getting a look at the pictures from the Spirit in Motion bellydance benefit over on tribe.net. (Thanks, Cheryl and Nicole!) My friends all look so happy and beautiful. Tribal Fire's Pirate number looks like it was a hoot! Thanks to Shanrae's hard work, and the work of many other people, but mostly Shanrae's drive and determination, the benefit raised over $2,100.00 this year for Akron Children's Hospital. I can't say I had much to do with that amazing feat this year, I was a lot out of it over here on Planet Pam. What I can say is that I am so proud of the company I keep and the friends I have made in the wonderful world of bellydance. They never give up, they always come through, and they a fun as heck!

Someone Bring Me Chlorosceptic, Please.

It's my tonsils: they are brightly colored and busting out all over. Its not strep, but it feels like it. The antibiotics are not doing anything yet. It's hurtie. Which, if you know me, you know makes me a whiney baby.

I'll tell you what. You can leave the Chlorosceptic on my stoop and run away before I answer the doorbell. That way you won't have to listen to me moan in agony or see my fabulous couch-pillow hairdo.

I am sad because I am missing our annual Tribal Fire belly dance show to benefit Akron Children's Hospital. They will be starting in a few minutes. Break a leg, ladies! I love you! I Miss you! I know you will do a beautiful job. What a bunch of special women I get to hang out with. :)

Nesting

I puttzed around the apartment this weekend. The snow is beautiful, and I love to look at it. I just don't feel like driving around in it, so I stayed home all weekend and made like June Cleaver. This is a fraction of my collection of fat quarter fabrics. The cart comes from an old hardware store that my brother Scottie bought out when it closed.
I like it because I can stuff it full and still be able to see what's in there to play with. Plus, it's on wheels!

The coke bottle came from Scottie too. It's perfect for my wholesale quantity of fiber fill.

I'm still working on organizing the studio/closet.

One of my quilts hangs over the bedroom door. The squares are 1inch x 1 inch. What I love about this quilt is the border. I seem to remember borrowing ma's sewing machine to stitch around the apliques. If I had tried to blanket stitch those by hand, I would still be at it now 15 years later.

I put the Christmas ornaments away and put this out instead: My tie-wire tree and a pretty box from ma and dad.

I was lucky enough to be given this pretty sofa by a sweet friend of my parents. That's my first attempt at a yo-yo quilt.

Fluffy little love muffin Lucy is not annoyed at having her photo taken. Much.

Charlotte never even twitched at the camera flash.
She's so happy in her new home. She has been spotted PLAYING!! Playing!!! She likes to kill her purple mousie toy a lot. At 15 years old, she's rediscovering her youth. Sometimes she sleeps snuggled up next to me on the couch, but the bathroom sink is her favorite napping place.

More Apartment Pics

This is my art room/studio/closet. It was inspired by my dream studio of all time at the home of favorite artists Teesha and Tracy Moore.

Yep, that's my bedroom wall above. The original barn wall. Totally bitchin, no?

I am in love with that light fixture. I have to remember where Scottie got it. It came from online somewhere, but, for the life of me, I can't remember where he said he got it.

Single Sort Of

I am living in my apartment now. It is already home. My family has enfolded me. They have all been so generous and loving, it has been a great comfort. I did not anticipate the emotional upheaval I feel. I was so excited about finally making a fresh start. I thank God for my family and my friends every day. This confusion and pain will pass with their help. I just have to learn to accept it with open arms. I am a stubborn wench.
I miss my kids. Oh, I see them every day except for the oldest who left for college again yesterday. I missed them this much when I was living with them too. They are all so grown up.
